How do I use/put in a menstrual cup?

__Inserting a Menstrual Cup: __

  1. Wash your hands before handling the cup or your going near your body!
  2. Begin by sitting, standing, or squatting over the toilet.
  3. Hold the folded menstrual cup with on hand, use your free had to part the labia and locate your vaginal opening.
  4. Slowly insert the menstrual cup into your vagina towards the direction of your tailbone. You may need to fiddle with how the cup is folded and the angle that you insert it. Take your time, stay calm - this will help keep your muscles relaxed.
  5. Once inside, give the cup a spin or poke to make sure it's suctioned (and therefore won't leak). You can very gently pull on the bottom of it to ensure that it is properly secured.

After a few tries you'll get to know how often you need to empty the cup but ideally do it before you fill it all the way!

Taking Out a Menstrual Cup:

  1. Wash your hands! And position yourself back over top of the toilet.
  2. You will need to un-suction the cup fromt he walls of your vagina. You can do this by gently pulling on the bottom of the cup, or, insert a finger to release the suction.
  3. From there, some blood may trickle down but that's okay because you're going to pull the entire cup out now.
  4. Pour the menstrual fluid into the toilet and, if you can, rinse the cup out in the sink.
  5. If need-be, re-insert the cup and repeat all the steps until your period is done!
