What size tampon should I get?

Our Answer
What our doctors say

Refinery29 sums up what to look for in a tampon with that iconic quote from Mean Girls: "Someone wrote in that book that I'm lying about being a virgin 'cause I use super-jumbo tampons, but I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide-set vagina?" It's just the "heavy flow" part that matters (not your vaginal size).

Ultimately, the size of tampon you use is your choice, and based off of your flow. You may want to start lighter and progress to heavier throughout your period. Try out a few different sizes, get to know when you have to change them out, and just monitor the ratio of blood to white on the tampon when you take it out.
