Introduce yourself! Who are you?

I am a health science major at The University of South Florida. I hope to eventually work as a physician associate in gynecology.

What do you do?

Currently, I am the recruitment officer for the Planned Parenthood Generation Action chapter here at my university. I have had a passion for women's health, reproductive justice, and sustainability since I turned 13. Besides those passions, I am a loving cat mom and an avid reader!

How did you find your passion and purpose?

My passion for sustainability started when I was a little kid. I used to run around collecting bugs. I read books about how important insects were to life and it all blossomed from there. This turned into a love for bees, as they pollinate the earth making life possible. I got a bee tattoo as symbolism for all life on earth. I cut out eating fish and most meats, I use mostly sustainable and refillable products, and recycle whenever possible! When I was 13, I got a free subscription to Cosmopolitan magazine. I remember reading about periods, women, and sexual health. At the time, gynecology wasn't my goal, but I knew I wanted to do something in relation to those topics.

How does menstruation exist in your life?

I do have a period and thankfully, it's not much of a bother in my life. I embrace that bodily function, as it provides life and allows me to be in tune with my body.

Do you have a funny period story?

I was 16 sitting in my AP Statistics class. I could feel my tampon leaking and didn't have a backup. I asked the girls at my table, but they didn't have any! Therefore, I started trying to get a girl's attention from across the room. My male teacher thought I was ignoring his lecture, and asked if I had something to share. He was a great teacher actually, had a daughter of his own, and obviously didn't know I was having a tampon crisis. Since I wasn't ashamed of my period, I said loud and clear I needed a tampon. He seemed a bit embarrassed but hey, life goes on!

What advice would you give to younger menstruators out there?

Don't be ashamed! Your body is so strong and it has a purpose! Embrace yourself and others, love always wins!

What’s your favorite August product? Or why does August resonate with you?

The liners are my favorite! I typically have a light flow and I love how they are plastic-free, really aligning with my passions!
