What is chhaupadi & where is it from?

The practice of chhaupadi separates menstruators from the rest of the home and forces them to stay in menstrual huts for the duration of their periods in harsh conditions that are justified by the notion that menstruation is an “impure and unholy process.”
According to the practice started in Nepal, 'women' (menstruators) are considered ‘impure’ during their menstruation cycle and are subsequently separated from others in many spheres of normal, daily life. It's practiced mainly in Hindu communities.
